Cycling is more than a passion, it’s a way of life.
We recognize that bicycle racing can be intimidating, expensive, and uninviting. It can be discouraging at times trying to learn how to race alone. Even with a team, membership fees, race fees, and bike upgrades quickly add up, costing an arm and a leg. When we started Velocity, all of these problems were very real to us as college students. Having a season under our belt, we have started to develop our identity in helping fellow new riders and racers become more comfortable in the pack. As a team, our goal is to facilitate an encouraging environment conducive to taking some of the pressure, edge, and cost off the sport of bicycle racing.
The club, however, is not just focused around racing. Velocity Cycle Club is driven by community. We ride to motivate each other, cultivate lasting friendships, improve our physical and mental well-being, and share in our mutual passion of bicycles. Our goal is to create a friendly community in which to improve ourselves, enjoy what we love, and share that with others by giving back to the community. We aim to get involved with charity events and rides, and raise money for important causes. If you’d like to read more about this, check out the Giving Back page!
When you get on a bicycle, you can go wherever your legs take you. The freedom of riding a bicycle is something we all cherish. The foundation of this club is on that feeling of liberty and the ability to go wherever you desire. We love the sport of cycling, and want to help others enjoy it as much as possible.
